The Catalyst Cube

The Cube acts as a catalyst and testbed for future moves and changes in the city’s physical and social fabric. The first prototype launched in Venezuela as part of the Department of Architecture and Design at the British Council Reframing Spaces project in November 2019. Known locally as the Cubo de Caracas, it has already made a big impact, playing host to a programme of cultural activations and engagements.

The application of the Cube is not constrained by geographical location. The team is now exploring how the Cube can act as an exciting tool for engagement and consultation as part of the development of our urban environments. Importantly, this tactical and temporary architecture can play a positive role in the creation of accessible and inclusive streets and public spaces.
