Patchworks

Since opening in September 2021, the culture programming from day one has ensured it is an inclusive and accessible venue, accommodating all aspects of its East London community. Patchworks sits at the heart of the Lea Bridge Framework – a strategic location identified in Waltham Forest’s Draft Local Plan where a significant increase in housing, local jobs and community infrastructure is expected over the next 15 years.

As co-founder, Will Sandy worked closely with the core Patchworks team to test ideas around community-led regeneration and creative reuse of these unique sites. We set out to prove concept, putting culture and the community at the heart of urban development. Longterm, the vision was to establish a community land trust model and deliver a low-density re-development of the site.
