Modular Landscapes

A range of adaptable, reconfigurable public realm modules that allow for endless arrangements, uses and locations. The individual units provides key public space components, such as the bench, the lounger, the table, the planter, the cycle stands and the tree planter. The components work collectively, introducing a seamless undulating landscape that transforms the existing public realm environment.

Modules can be configured to a variety of spatial types, supporting social and cultural programs, improving the environmental performance and strengthening the place value of each location. The system works as part of a wider landscape improvement or regeneration scheme or as a stand-alone activation and intervention.

The designs allow for interim activations, providing the client or user with a tool to further engage and animate their site during construction and into completion. It allows for continued development, adding and subtracting new elements. This allows for the site to adapt with the community or user group as the project evolves, throughout the day, week or year.

The modular elements are manufactured off site to minimise disruption. They are easily relocatable with standard lifting equipment with adjustable feet and lifting points built into the design of each unit. There is scope for digital integration for increased engagement and post occupancy evaluation to inform future uses and permanent public realm design.
